The
Programme
|
|
Maths or
English - every student has a programme that is built just for them.
Not just individualised but individual.
|
|
At workshops, they study MagiKats curriculum sets, in small groups
and with help from their assigned tutor. Each session combines a
variety of activities to help understanding. The emphasis is on boosting
the mastery of topics as they are covered at school. Students
concentrate on coming to grips with materials at the level that they
currently need and they can then move forward into more advanced
extension work.
|
At the
same time, their homework helps them to fill any gaps that
may exist in their core skills. This is structured around the MagiKats
modules, which combine areas of study in a practical way. Each week,
the student will receive a work pack that contains a variety of topics
that 'fit' together both in standard and application.
|
|
Whether it
is the curriculum sets that are tackled in the workshops
or the materials in the modules that are completed at
home, MagiKats makes them think!
|
|
Special
support is available when SATs, entrance exams or GCSEs are looming and
verbal and non-verbal reasoning are available as extras at some Tuition
Centres.
|
How does it work?
|
-
Following the initial
placement interview/test, you enrol your child.
|
-
You book the location,
day and time when you want them to attend regularly.
|
-
We prepare your
child’s very own programme - aiming to give them an immediate boost with the
work they are currently covering at school.
|
-
Our
curriculum mirrors the UK National Curriculum. It is completely up to date
and is adjusted, when ever necessary, to remain in line with student need.
|
-
Every
student also works on a parallel thread, designed to give additional long
term benefit by strengthening any weak areas in core skills or by extending
the able student with more demanding assignments. The core skill syllabus,
needless to say, varies little.
|
-
We work with each
individual student on their own special programme every time they attend a
workshop.
|
-
Each piece of work
that they complete will be different: they will not normally repeat
assignments.
|
-
An appropriate and
wide mix of approaches is incorporated from textbook style exercises through
educational games to the use of calculators. Variety is the spice of life
and fosters a love of learning.
|
-
At the end of each
workshop, students receive a weekly work pack of five short assignments.
These are designed to maintain their learning momentum until their next
visit. Answer keys are provided so that parents can give immediate feedback
and encouragement at home.
