A Message From The Principal: Jon Curry
After twenty one years in education, initially as a maths teacher, then in leading a secondary maths team, as well as assistant and deputy headships and five years in school improvement consultancy, it was time for a change! However, whatever that was going to be had to still enable me to continue working with young people in support of their academic progress…………….and MagiKats Gainsborough provides just that!
The MagiKats system has been helping young people across the country make progress in maths and English since 2004. Students work on an individual programme of study in a weekly, 40 minute workshop with a carefully selected mentor. Mentors work with small groups, no more than 6 students in each group, improving their subject knowledge and confidence with great success. Students also receive additional core work to do at home that should take no more than 10 minutes to complete each day.
Our workshops support the work of the National Curriculum and provide an individual programme of study, with an obvious focus on maths and English but one that also helps students develop study skills in general, social skills and encourages a love of learning generally.
Students love it because we help boost their rate of progress, no matter what their starting point. Parents love it because it’s cost effective and gets results!
Operating from the recently refurbished United Reformed Church at the heart of the town, MagiKats Gainsborough is open each Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:15 to 6:30.
Whether you’re looking for support towards GCSE, the 11+ or a more general approach to improving your child’s maths, English or both, whatever their age or ability, why not get in touch to see how we might help?
I’d be happy to discuss your child’s individual needs, support them in carrying out an initial placement activity and plan a programme of study that sets them on the road to future success. Contact us via the enquiry form above, or by telephone.
I look forward to hearing from you!
