A warm message from our Principal
Thank you for taking the time to look at the MagiKats programme. I have been teaching since 1990; as a primary school class teacher and special needs coordinator. I have been running the Haywards Heath MagiKats workshop for 6 years and I also have experience of running another after-school maths and English class for students up to the age of 16. My first degree is in English Literature and I am a specialist dyslexia teacher. I have two children of my own and so understand the demands of family life and the very different needs of individual children.
Experiencing how pupils learn in school (and the demanding pace in the classroom), I can see the need for some children to have immediate help with topics they are covering in school, plus a chance to fill the gaps in their learning of basic skills. I was thrilled to find that the MagiKats approach does just that; in weekly workshops students cover age appropriate work, whilst five short pieces of homework each week address basic skills. For example, a student might be working on fractions in the workshop whilst brushing up on times tables at home. I am enthusiastic about MagiKats because work is set to meet the students' needs on an individual basis, thus making each programme unique and all for half the cost of a private tutor.
My workshop is in the comfortable, friendly environment of King Edward Hall in Lindfield. It is a short walk for students at Oathall Community College, Lindfield and Blackthorns schools. Students also come from further afield. I always put my students first and help them achieve their goals in the most painless way possible.
Please get in touch with me via this site, email or the telephone. I am in the office during most mornings, but am often teaching in the afternoons. However, please leave a message on my answerphone and I will call you back.
Following your enquiry, I can usually carry out a placement test within a couple of weeks and then your child is welcome to start attending workshops almost immediately. Now that you know more about MagiKats I hope you will not hesitate to get in touch.
